Manchester Care & Repair is an independent Home Improvement Agency. We are a not-for-profit organisation that is funded from a variety of sources to help older and vulnerable people to live in a warm, safe and secure environment.
Our clients are householders who are aged 60 years and above and are normally owner-occupiers or private tenants, although many of our services are available to older people of any tenure – including council and housing association tenants.
Our main service is to help eligible people with major property repairs and improvements. This comprises assistance with work planning, recommending a reliable contractor and access to interest-free finance.
We also provide: a free handyperson service (but the client pays for any materials used); advice on how to access services to help with living independently; help with personal problems; advice on welfare benefits (including home visits and help with form-filling); advocacy; translation services; and training on how to avoid trips and falls in the home.
