Home Repairs Support Team
Manchester Care & Repair’s Home Repairs Support Team can provide a variety of services to help you stay safe, secure and independent in your own home. Our advice is always free! We can provide assistance to any Manchester resident aged sixty or over- you do not have to be on a benefit or receive a low income to gain from our expertise or help!
Our Technical Officers can visit your property and discuss the general condition of your property and the works that you want doing, obtain competitive quotes from reputable contractors (builders, plumbers, roofers, electricians and so on) and supervise and inspect the work if you decide to go ahead.
The types of work that we commonly deal with are listed below, but this is by no means an exhaustive list.
- Roofs, gutters and drains
- New windows and doors (or repairs to existing)
- Electrics, heating and plumbing
- Gardens and pathways
If you wish to proceed with organising the work yourself without our involvement we are happy to give you the name of relevant contractors from our list, rather than you calling someone who you have no experience of.
In addition to home repairs our Complex Caseworkers can offer:
- Advice on welfare benefits entitlement and assistance with making a claim
- Information on funding and money issues for older homeowners, which might include:
- Grant Assistance from Manchester City Council for severe health and safety issues relating to your house
- Interest free HELP (Home Energy Loan Plan) loans for energy saving measures
- Interest free PERL (Property Essential Repair Loan) or MWA (Minor Works Assistance) loans for necessary repairs to your home
- Releasing some of the equity in your property to pay for repairs
