Volunteer Handypersons Wanted
Manchester Care and Repair works with and provides services to older people to help them to continue living independently in their own homes.
We have volunteers involved in our work in many different ways however we currently have opportunities for the role of Volunteer Handyperson. The volunteer handyperson will assist the employed Handyperson Home Safety Operative (HHSO) Team in delivering a range of Handyperson services in an agreed area of Manchester.
The volunteer handy person will complete tasks such as small DIY jobs
- fitting of safety equipment e.g. grab-rails, stair rails
- fitting of security equipment e.g. locks, spy-holes
- other joinery works
- minor plumbing works – dripping taps, toilet cisterns
- general D.I.Y tasks e.g. curtain rails
We provide a full induction program which includes the opportunity to work alongside experienced operatives prior to working alone.
This role would suit someone who has evident DIY or trades skills.
Working as a volunteer handyperson you are directly helping older people and are a part of a respected local service.
The is an opportunity to develop skills for working with people and to use your DIY skills developed through work or hobby
To assist you in this role we will provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and reimburse you for your out of pocket expenses e.g. travel expenses at .45p per mile, Lunch expenses up to a maximum of £3 per day. You will be required to provide your own tools and have access to a suitable vehicle which is insured for business.
Volunteers for this role will require a CRB check
