Handyperson
HandyHelp is a low-cost service for most small jobs around the home. Our referenced and CRB-checked Handyperson will make an appointment to visit you at home to discuss the work you’d like carried out.
The kinds of small jobs and repairs that our Handyman can do for you include the following (but this is not an exhaustive list):
- Limited brickwork and patch plastering
- Gates (repair, replacing broken hinges, fitting padbolts and padlocks) and low level guttering (cleaning only)
- Fitting curtain rails and blinds, changing light bulbs, installing smoke alarms and fitting grab rails or hand rails and extra stair (banister) rails
- Drainage works (e.g. unblocking sinks or gullies) and small heating and plumbing issues (e.g. bleeding radiators, replacing taps and tightening washers, attending to leaking toilets)
- Internal doors (e.g fitting door furniture – locks, handles, bolts, spyholes and safety chains, easing sticking doors, security measures and draught-proofing)
- Furniture repair (and small flat pack assembly) and internal joinery (e.g. replacing doors, erecting shelving and re-fixing loose floorboards)
The cost is just £15 per visit plus the cost of any materials used. We will source the materials for you if you are unsure what’s needed for the job. The Handyperson can only deal with the work that is on their job sheet (i.e. if you have reported a leaky tap the Handyperson cannot then attend to putting up a shelf as well – another appointment will have to be made).
The HandyHelp service is available to Trafford residents who are aged 60 or over or who are disabled, regardless of income or tenure (however, if you are in rented accommodation we will not be able to carry out any work that is the responsibility of your landlord). The HandyHelp service is available as many times as you need it – you don’t only get one “go”! This is a popular service and there may be a waiting list (we will inform you at the time of booking).
